Well I thought I was disagreeing but maybe I misunderstood you ;-)
I thought you were saying that you changed flags to gadgetflags in
the base struct to avoid clashes with members called flags in the
various derived structs.
I was saying that I thought it better to leave the base struct alone
and rename the flags members in any derived structs that clashed.
