I think you've misunderstood my post. OSLib may be *used* with any compiler.
I'm specifically talking here about *building* OSLib. As well as the
maintainers, there are a few developers out there who need to do this, for
whatever reason.

What I'm proposing is to use the syntax of the newer make files in the build
process; this won't affect users, only developers; most of these will be
using the newer tools and/or GCC anyway.

Sorry if I didn't make this sufficiently clear.
