This sounds logical and a sensible way to go about it. So I wonder what
went wrong at my end?
Aha! It looks like essential things are missing from my source tree. In
particular, the 'oslib' subdir of the 'Tools' dir is not present.
ViewCVS tells me this holds all those useful header files and stuff.
Fetching a fresh CVS tree in a separate directory does give the
required files. So I retract my earlier comments: It works as is.
My guess at what happened is that the tree I was using was a 6.60
version which I checked out earlier, and did a cvs update to oslib-670
later. But I'm just guessing.
I need to mention here that I'm just beginning to get to grips with
CVS. Have read all the manuals and the books, but practical experience
is limited to typing in some example commands (by the way: thanks for
the step-by-step instructions on the home pages).
One more remark: Suggested addition to the !Readme
(OSLib.!OsLib.!Readme):
In the section "Building OSLib under RISC OS", just before "all that is
necessary is to double-click on the 'Make' TaskObey" add the
instruction to first double-click on SetVars.
I didn't do this, and the make process promptly tried to use the duff
sources in the older directory, in stead of the new sources I just
checked out. Great fun. (8-)
Oh, and probably something about running !RISCOSify from the unixify
package. I know it's on the website, but it would be nice to have it
in the !Readme, just for completeness.
