It seems to have been comprehensively missed from all the 3.5 and +
documentation I have, so I don't think it is forthcomming. The closest
are warnings that OS_Word 9 should not be used for high colour modes and
OS_ReadPoint used instead.

It should be taken that apart from in the special case 256 colour modes, it
simply returns the raw pixel value.
