crashes after being out of desktop

I notice that RemoteNB still crashes after a period out of the desktop, so
that RemoteNB does not get polled, and the IMAP connection times out.

I realise that it's a difficulty, but it seems a bit messy for it just to
die; would it not be possible (Tom) to detect that the connection has been
lost and reopen it?
