Hmm, my pine/imapd seem to be having a fit of strangeness. None of that
seems to happen. If RemoteNB gets to the mailbox first, there's nothing
in the log about locks, and Pine gets read-only access to the mailbox. If
pine gets there first, the server tells RemoteNB it's got read-only
access, and RemoteNB carries on as normal.
Thanks for your help - I'm now certain this is a problem at the linux
end, so I guess I'll have a look elsewhere when I get the chance.
