Hum. I put a lot of time and effort into creating that web site, and in
particular on the page about how to check out using cvs. It would be
nice to think that people can be bothered to read it. If there's
something I've not made sufficiently clear, please let me know, and I'll try
to improve it. The answers to those questions are there...

SourceForge is very security conscious, and will only allow nominated users
write access to the repository. This is quite correct, and I'm sure you can
understand the reasons.
Also on the web site somewhere it asks anyone with anything to contribute to
submit it to this list, so that it can be peer reviewed, and if appropriate
the maintainers will commit the patches. This keeps things under control.
So, what is it precisely that you're trying to commit, Herbert? We would be
very pleased to see your contributions if they result in improvements to the
library or its tools.
